'The Cosby Show' Cast Members Deon Richmond And Gary Leroi Gray Team Up For New Feature Film, 'Familius'

‘Familus’ is the story of a man who lost everything and has to learn the true value of friendship and family in an apocalyptic world.  A cross between ‘Blue Valentine’, ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘I Am Legend’, ‘Familius’ takes viewers into the future of the film and entertainment for social change, while attempting to change the perspective of the film industry and people in general

[Los Angeles, CA June 28, 2013]  The Cosby Show stars Deon Richmond and Gary Leroi Gray have teamed up to produce a new feature film, Familius. Familius takes viewers into the future of the film and entertainment industry. The two have joined Writer/Director Kelby Joseph and Director of Photography Will Barratt to produce a mesmerizing and iconic feature film. The group hopes to raise $500,000 to finance the film. "This film," Kelby Joseph stated, "is for everyone who has given up on their dreams, for those who have lost support from others. This is for those people, to let them know that if you believe in yourself, success will gravitate towards you."

The participants are all seasoned industry talents. Deon Richmond is known as Bud from The Cosby Show, Jordan from Sister,Sister, Young Eddie Murphy in Eddie Murphy Raw, Greg in Trippin', Tyson Fox in Scream 3, Malik Token in Not Another Teen Movie, and Marcus in Hatchet. He has worked with stars such as Bill Cosby, Denzel Washington, Spike Lee, Wesley Snipes, Samuel L. Jackson, Leiv Shreiber, Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, Patrick Dempsey, Jaime Pressly and many others

Gary started off on The Cosby Show playing Nelson. He's had guest spots on Fresh Prince of Bel Aire, Family Matters, Living Single, Even Stevens and was even the voice of Squid/Sam on Rocket Power and AJ on the Fairly Odd Parents. He has worked with Will Smith, Queen Latifah, Jaleel White, Weird Al Yankovich, Shia LaBeouf and many others.

“This has the potential," Deon Richmond stated, "to be an iconic film - a mix between Breaking Bad, I Am Legend and Blue Valentine. Certainly something to break the stereotypes."

The group hopes to raise $500,000 to finance the film and has set up a page on Indiegogo. Individual contribution levels range from $1 to $25,000. Higher level contribution perks include dinner with the cast and crew, guest appearances in the movie, even red carpet and limo packages for the premier. Profile:

Kelby Joseph is the writer and director of Familius. He is American/Haitian/Canadian born in Brooklyn, New York. Kelby wrote and directed plays in Melbourne Florida before moving to California. He is a graduate of AMDA, College and Conservatory for the Performing Arts, and holds Bachelors degree in fine arts and acting. While in school, he produced, wrote and directed multiple short films including Running and Kymone and several webseries.   

Deon Richmond plays the leading role of Ross in Familius and is also a producer. A well known face in the industry, Deon has appeared on The Cosby Show, Sister,Sister, Eddie Murphy Raw, Trippin', Scream 3, Not Another Teen Movie, and Hatchet. He considers Familius to be a "tent-pole" in his career as he transitions into dramatic work.

Gary Leroi Gray has appeared on The Cosby Show, Fresh Prince of Bel Aire, Family Matters, Living Single, Even Stevens and Fairly Odd Parents.
